Scam Alert - Winter Fuel Allowance

There are always a number of scams going around but one in particular is a text message using the latest cold snap to lure elderly and vulnerable people who last year were allocated the winter fuel allowance to apply for this years.

The text reads ‘Due to the approaching cold weather, in order to ensure that you spend the winter safely the town hall/government etc resolves to issue you the 2024 winter allowance’ 

The text goes onto give deadlines that if you fail to complete you will lose the opportunity and provides a link.

Please warn your nearest and dearest about this callous message. Many could easily fall for such an opportunity. 

There are others on Facebook/Email, if in doubt speak to someone but these messages are scam messages.
