The picturesque town of Boston Spa has long celebrated its artistic and cultural legacy and the Boston Spa Arts & Crafts Festival is back this October.
What began as a one-off community event quickly gained popularity, cementing its place as an annual affair due to the resounding success of its inaugural year.
At its core, the festival is organised by a not-for-profit group dedicated to multiple causes. They strive to celebrate the profound talents of local artists and craftspeople, offering them a golden opportunity to showcase and sell their exquisite works. Simultaneously, the festival plays a pivotal role in raising essential funds to further enhance the Boston Spa Village Hall.
The world faced an unforeseen challenge in the form of Covid-19, causing the festival to take a hiatus for two years. However, it made a triumphant return in October 2022. This comeback event saw a remarkable gathering of around 60 local artists and artisans. Visitors were treated to a visual symphony of paintings, collages, photographs, textiles, jewellery, ceramics, and crafts from metals and woods.
An added attraction was the presence of Heather Burton, the festival's artist-in-residence. Attendees were mesmerised as she showcased her exemplary palette knife painting techniques using mixed media on the main stage.
The event was made even more delightful with refreshments from the village hall cafe. A heartfelt thanks goes out to the Boston Spa Village Hall CIO committee volunteers for their impeccable service, which visitors thoroughly enjoyed.
This year, the much-anticipated festival is set to occur on Friday and Saturday, 13th and 14th October 2023, at the historic Boston Spa Village Hall.
Artists eager to showcase their talent can start sending in their exhibit applications from April 2023 by emailing art.fest@yahoo.co.uk. Additionally, those with a heart for community service and a passion for arts are encouraged to volunteer in the lead-up to this grand event. Potential volunteers can reach out via the same email address.
Don't miss out on this artistic extravaganza in Boston Spa this autumn!
